NEXT Distro is an online and mail-based harm reduction service focused on reducing opioid overdose death, preventing injection-related disease transmission, and improving the lives of people who use drugs. In 2025, NEXT Distro identified the need to reorganize its strategic approach for its work in California. Specifically, NEXT Distro sought to make sure that their services were reaching the Californians most disenfranchised from harm reduction services while continuing to be sustainable in an evolving landscape.
In this project, Facente Consulting supported a series of strategic discussions, including a facilitated in-person retreat, with NEXT Distro and SANE (a partnering Sacramento-based syringe services program). The project included design and facilitation of strategic discussions, retreat implementation, and identification of specific strategies that NEXT Distro will use in the next year.
