The use of inclusive and appropriate language is an important aspect of working towards health equity and diminishing disparities. UNAIDS’s terminology guidelines provide international guidance on basic terms and concepts related to HIV response.
UNAIDS has partnered with Facente Consulting for support with updating and developing their terminology guidelines. We will conduct a desk review and literature review, and work with the UNAIDS Technical Working Group and external and internal stakeholders, to ensure the inclusion of the most appropriate terminology for use in HIV-related work in the guidelines, which are intended to be an iterative document that will support HIV response throughout the world.
