Born in the Midwest, Yaya was rescued in the country but has lived in cities on both coasts. Having spent years living in New York City and San Francisco, she has settled into life as a San Diego community organizer. She brings together folks from all walks of life on her daily community outreach missions. It is not uncommon to hear gasps and cheerful greetings of “Yaya” everywhere she goes! Her primary goal is to encourage community walkability and engagement, as well as the occasional provision of treats. When she is not engaged in street outreach, she is back at the office with Sara Durán, ensuring optimal working conditions.
