Harm reduction methodology is increasingly accepted as a crucial set of strategies to implement infectious disease prevention strategies, optimize sexual health, and support substance use recovery processes. As the need for harm reduction education and services expands, additional educational tools are needed to support the integration of harm reduction practice into learnings and health optimization strategies.
Facente Consulting worked with the team at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, as well as the Behavioral Health Excellence – Technical Assistance Center (BHE-TAC), based at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and of which UMKC is a partner, to develop a harm reduction curriculum infusion package to support support college professors in infusing harm reduction framework and methodology into course curricula. This work entailed delivering a PowerPoint slide deck with detailed facilitator notes, creating a one-page summary on the history of harm reduction, and developing an open-access harm reduction resource list to supplement coursework.
