In 2024, Hamilton Families was entering the final year of their existing strategic plan. They knew they needed to review where they stood with their original priorities, and that it was important to update those priorities and plan ahead to manage impending budget cuts, which were expected to be deep. They turned to Facente Consulting for support in refreshing their strategic plan using a scaled-down process that would complement, not compete with, their limited time during an intensive budget planning season.
Facente Consulting worked closely with organizational leadership to plan and implement five strategic meetings – some virtual and some in-person – to walk them through a review and refresh of their strategic plan. These meetings were planned to leverage existing meeting time, and were scheduled around the existing budget planning process so as not to overtax staff. Early meetings helped inform budget development, and later meetings helped prepare the organization for action planning given the final budget decisions that were made, influencing their prioritized activities for 2024-2025.
