Fresno County Health Department Maternal and Child Health Needs Assessment

Fresno County Department of Public Health

Project Years: 2024

To maximize local efforts to promote maternal and child health (MCH), Fresno County routinely conducts needs assessments that review local data and engage the voices and expertise of key stakeholders. Local needs assessments inform the health department’s approach to supporting people who can become or who are pregnant, parents and caregivers, infants, children, and adolescents.

Fresno County has hired Facente Consulting to support a three-phase maternal and child needs assessment between March to June 2024. The first phase focuses on the review of prior needs assessment processes and findings, while collecting new data about local MCH needs via focus groups and surveys with key stakeholders. The second phase involves analysis of the focus group and survey data, which will inform a summary report. The third and final phase includes the development of tracking tools to support the county in monitoring the implementation of the full needs assessment.
