Alarming fatal overdose rates in Michigan and the broader U.S. require innovative approaches to overdose prevention and harm reduction. Harm Reduction Michigan—an organization focused on decreasing substance use-related harms in respectful collaboration with all people involved—has launched a program to establish boxes for the overdose reversal agent naloxone throughout the state. These boxes intend to reduce barriers to accessing naloxone and increase the likelihood that naloxone will be available and used during overdose.
To understand the impact of this innovative overdose prevention initiative, Harm Reduction Michigan hired Facente Consulting to design and implement an evaluation of their naloxone box project. Facente Consulting is collaborating with Harm Reduction Michigan to design an evaluation framework, identify key measures, and implement the evaluation. Facente Consulting will also be responsible for disseminating evaluation findings through evaluation reports and a peer-reviewed journal article.
