In California, there are several programs that help cover the costs of HIV medication, including the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program, the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP), the Health Insurance Premium Payment (HIPP) program, and the Medicare Premium Payment Program (MPPP). As the state entity responsible for coordinating California’s programs, services, and activities related to HIV/AIDS, the California Department of Public Health Office of AIDS (CDPH OA) is seeking to improve enrollment and retention in these programs.
To understand the types of improvements that will be impactful, CDPH OA hired Facente Consulting to conduct a needs assessment around barriers to and facilitators of program enrollment and retention. Facente Consulting will conduct a literature review, conduct site visits, and apply qualitative methods (including interviews and listening sessions) that elicit insights about how people living with HIV can better access treatment coverage programs. The findings will be summarized in a comprehensive report presented to the California legislature.
