SFDPH Harm Reduction Training Institute Assessment, Curriculum Development, and Training

SFDPH Community Health Equity and Promotion (CHEP)

The San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) hosts a Harm Reduction Training Institute that equips funded community partners that work with people who use drugs with the information they need to effectively do their job. The training institute includes information about life-saving overdose prevention services, addresses stigma, and provides welcoming and compassionate services.

In 2025, SFDPH hired Facente Consulting to refresh the training institute to align with the most current needs of the community partners who engage with trainings. In this project, Facente Consulting will identify the needs of community partners through interviews, focus groups, and a survey tailored to community partners that work directly with people who use drugs. Based on the findings from the community engagement phase, Facente Consulting will document training and technical assistance needs and design curriculum for the training institute in collaboration with subcontractors who specialize in this type of training content.
