The Pain and Addiction Research Center (PARC) at UCSF aims to accelerate science related to pain and addiction to advance and improve care. Just five years after its launch, PARC had grown to more than 100 interdisciplinary faculty members and trainees. To sustain its impact despite a modest budget, PARC sought strategic support for defining its priorities and next steps.
Facente Consulting was hired to guide PARC through a six-month strategic planning process. Facente Consulting conducted background research and assess PARC’s current programming; completed a landscape analysis, including interviews with key stakeholders; worked with PARC staff and stakeholders over several meetings to develop a strategic plan; and created a communication strategy for disseminating PARC’s new strategic plan.
