Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, and Iowa have been particularly hard-hit by the opioid epidemic, but are in politically unfriendly environments for the implementation of harm reduction work. The Mid-America Addiction Technology Training Center (Mid-America ATTC) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City started a harm reduction consultation program to support interested programs in these states in thinking through harm reduction program implementation.
Facente Consulting worked with the Mid-America ATTC in designing and implementing this harm reduction consultation program, designing a harm reduction readiness assessment to be delivered to participating programs and developing and implementing technical assistance plans in response to assessment findings. After the initial phase of work, Facente Consulting was asked to play a lead role in the delivery of the ATTC’s technical assistance, designing and providing harm reduction trainings, policy development, and other program implementation work.
