One Treasure Island (OneTI) is a nonprofit organization committed to creating a vibrant, inclusive community that provides pathways for economic advancement for low-income San Franciscans, including those who have experienced homelessness. Treasure Island, a sub-community of San Francisco, is currently home to about 2,000 residents and is one of San Francisco’s most racially/ethnically diverse and lowest income neighborhoods. The island is undergoing redevelopment, including residential and commercial buildout, that is expected to turn it into a neighborhood of about 20,000 people. For this project, OneTI was seeking a community engagement consultant to facilitate the Treasure Island Visioning Process.
The visioning process was an opportunity for island stakeholders, government leadership and the development team to co-create a vision and values statement for equity, inclusion and belonging as the community grows through redevelopment. This statement reaffirms a shared commitment to this rare opportunity to develop a transformative example of mixed-income inclusion. Project activities included:
- Vision and values development
- Community engagement
- Vision and values statement refinement
- Vision and values statement finalization
