In 2022, Gilead Foundation launched the Creating Possible Fund, a three-year, $20 million program to advance health prosperity through education equity. The Creating Possible Fund was designed to support systemic or scaled impact to advance equity in education and improve the physical and mental health and wellness of adolescent and transitional-age youth in the United States. Grantees of this fund were located all across the U.S., and Gilead was interested in developing a comprehensive impact evaluation to assess the success of this inaugural education-focused philanthropic effort.
Facente Consulting worked with Gilead Foundation to develop a theory of change to describe and visualize the meaningful impact that Gilead wanted to achieve through Creating Possible. We then developed a comprehensive strategic evaluation plan to articulate the impact of the fund, using both quantitative metrics and storytelling, highlighting the unique approach of addressing education inequity as a strategy to impact health outcomes. The plan included metrics and a data collection plan for grantees, along with ongoing training and technical assistance services to support Gilead Foundation and grantees in implementing the evaluation.
