Reports and Plans
- UNAIDS Terminology Guidelines, 2024 The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) partnered with Facente Consulting for support with updating and developing their terminology guidelines, last updated in 2015. We conducted a desk review and literature review, and worked with the UNAIDS Technical Working Group and external and internal stakeholders to ensure the inclusion of the most appropriate terminology for use in HIV-related work in the guidelines, which are intended to be an iterative document that will support HIV response throughout the world.
- Using Recency Assays for HIV Surveillance: 2022 Technical Guidance Shelley Facente provided scientific input and Facente Consulting coordinated the technical team that developed this international guidance for UNAIDS and the World Health Organization, released in December 2022, to guide country programs in using HIV recency assays (tests that discriminate recent from longstanding HIV infection) to help them better understand their HIV epidemic.
- Ending the Epidemics: Addressing Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Hepatitis C Virus (HCV), and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) in California This strategic plan was developed during 2021 with input from a workgroup composed of diverse voices from staff of the California Department of Public Health, key stakeholders, and people with lived experience of HIV, HCV, and/or STIs. The document provides a high-level overview of the strategies for the state’s work over the next five years to end the syndemic of HIV, HCV, and STIs in California, in partnership with people at regional and local levels. The plan uses a social determinants of health framework, and centers equity and racial justice as a core part of the mission. Phase 2 of this project will be to work with stakeholders throughout the state in 2022 to create a blueprint document that turns these high-level strategies into concrete, realistic activities that will help realize the plan’s goals.
- COVID-19 vaccination fact sheet (August 3, 2021) This scientifically accurate and well-cited guide to COVID-19 vaccination is written in lay language, and was developed for a client to distribute to vaccine hesitant staff in their workplace once the Delta variant began to spread in the United States.
- Hamilton Families Strategic Plan 2021-2024 Facente Consulting worked with Hamilton Families throughout early 2021 to develop a strategic plan that would highlight their efforts to help homeless families in the Bay Area recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, and thrive together with a safe and stable place to live.
- Ending the HIV Epidemic: California Consortium Developed for CDC on behalf of the California Department of Public Health and health department staff of Alameda, Orange, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, and San Diego counties, in response to CDC PS 19-1906, calling for five-year plans to end the HIV epidemic in high-impact jurisdictions.
- Ending the Epidemics: Collective Strategies for Addressing HIV, Hepatitis C, and Sexually Transmitted Infections in San Francisco This plan was written by Facente Consulting over a one-year period, with the input of stakeholders from the San Francisco Department of Public Health, local community organizations, and, most importantly, members of communities highly impacted by these epidemics in San Francisco.
- End Hep C SF Strategic Plan, 2020-2022 Developed for San Francisco’s collective impact initiative, End Hep C SF, to eliminate hepatitis C as a public health threat.
- Issue Brief: Addiction & Recovery This issue brief was commissioned by Battery Powered, the social engagement “giving program” within San Francisco’s social club The Battery. Issue briefs are created once per quarter to educate members on critical societal issues, to help guide foundational giving and improve their community.
